Frontier Technology introduces the mechanism and outline of the ball type automatic heat exchanger cleaning system “XAC.”

Accumulation of scale, slime, sludge and other contaminants inside heat exchangers, steam condensers, or other condensers will cause many problems, such as a lowering in operating efficiency and corrosion of thin tubes.
Ball type automatic heat exchanger cleaning system “XAC” developed by us is a maintenance tool that automatically and repeatedly cleans the inside of heat exchanger tubes with sponge balls.
Here we introduce the mechanism and features of “XAC” that can be expected to offer a range of results.

Outline of “XAC”

“XAC” is a system that automatically cleans shell ＆ tube type heat exchanger(s).
Special-purpose sponge balls about 10mm to 20mm in diameter are put in the heat exchanger tubes to perform physical cleaning automatically by passing the balls through the thin tubes with use of cooling water flowing inside the equipment.
Since the adhesion of contaminants can always be avoided during operation of the machine, troubles associated with a lowering in operating efficiency of the machine and corrosion of thin tubes can be prevented from occurring.
In addition, significant energy saving, maintenance cost reduction, and equipment life extension can be achieved because periodic brush and chemical cleaning become unnecessary.

Mechanism of “XAC”

Sponge balls are periodically passed through the thin tubes of the shell ＆ tube type heat exchanger to perform physical cleaning automatically.
A clean condition can always be maintained because cleaning can be performed repeatedly during operation.
We can make optimum custom-made proposals because the installation location of the control panel, ball collection unit, ball trap, etc., can be selected according to factory or facility design and piping layout.

Features of “XAC”

The “XAC” can be installed in any location because it is completely made-to-order and the layout of the main body unit can be flexibly changed.
Multiple control by which up to 6 units can be cleaned continuously with a single control panel is also possible, so that cost-effectiveness can be further enhanced.
What is required for maintenance is the replacement of special-purpose sponge balls made of natural rubber only.
Running costs are extremely low.
Also, there is a little effort and time involved for operators because it is automatically actuated in synchronization with the operation of the target facilities.
